Sophia, a behavior technician at MetroEHS Pediatric Therapy, helps her young clients by focusing on communication skills, social skills and motor skills. As a priority and goal, Sophia is passionate about seeing her clients become more independent. Sophia is proud of the team of people around her at MetroEHS as they all work together to bring about success for each client.
Born profoundly deaf, Sophia was not able to speak well until she was nine years old. Her father played an important role in Sophia’s communication development. Any time Sophia would pronounce a word incorrectly, her Father would stop and make sure Sophia felt his neck as the word was spoken correctly. Feeling the vibration of the word properly spoken helped and eventually lead to Sophia being able to communicate without great difficulty. The rewarding and life-changing transformation led Sophia to pursue becoming a Behavior Technician so that she could help other young people.
In the same way her father did not want to give up on her, Sophia applies the same determination with her clients. Each child and situation is unique but with persistence she learned in her own life, Sophia is seeing clients succeed and become more independent with some of the newest programs available.
Sophia’s daily encouragement and promise to young clients and concerned parents is shared with the MetroEHS Team; “Everything is possible. Nothing is impossible. By working together, no matter how long it takes, we’ll help your child succeed in being more independent.”
