MetroEHS Pediatric Therapy is excited to introduce the Summer Learning Program 2020. Some Summer Groups are going to be online and others will be in person at locations across Metro Detroit. Kids will be serviced this summer in a variety of ways; including groups focussing on handwriting and typewriting, yoga, music, articulation and language.
MetroEHS would like to Introduce you to some of the counselors that are going to be guiding your kids during the MetroEHS Summer Learning Program 2020.
Music, Rhythm & Dance
Amber is a music therapist for Summer Learning 2020. The program Amber will be using is called Music Together which is an early childhood development program that promotes language development of motor skills and phonological awareness of children through music and Rhythm and dance. Amber is excited to make music this summer!
Handwriting, Cursive & Typing
Scott, an Occupational Therapist with MetroEHS will be leading a group focusing on handwriting, cursive and typing this summer. Scott is excited to get into some fun ways of working on handwriting by not just using paper and pencil and typing as well. This group should be a good way to keep working on those skills and have fun while out of school summer.
Yoga for Kids
Danielle is an Occupational Therapist with MetroEHS and one of the counselors for the 2020 summer program. For the kids Yoga Program the team has planned developmentally appropriate activities to help your child build flexibility, strength, coordination and body awareness. The program will also work on some self-regulation skills, concentration and focus.
Expanding Expressions
Megan, a Speech Language Pathologist for MetroEHS, is one of the summer program counselors for Metro's Summer 2020 Virtual Speech and OT Groups. Expanding expressions will be worked on using the Expanding Expression Tool. The tool targets building vocabulary so that children can have longer sentences and utterances that are more detailed both when speaking and writing.
Social Skills
Max, a Speech Therapist, will be hosting one of our summer groups this year. He is looking forward to the social skills group which is going to consist of a bunch of different fun activities that revolve around how to act in different social situations.
MetroEHS Summer Groups are perfect for children who may need some additional help with refining writing skills to areas of speech, sensory or social skills.
