ABOUT
South Lyon
A Stunning Place to Live or Work
You can find South Lyon situated about 30 miles northwest of Detroit in the southwest portion of Oakland County. The city is home to approximately 11,000 people and offers a unique blend of urban and rural charm.
South Lyon’s rich history dates back to the early 19th century, when it was first settled by European pioneers. Since then, the city has undergone many changes to become the thriving community it is today.
Today, South Lyon is home to several parks, including the popular South Lyon Woods Nature Preserve, which offers hiking trails and opportunities to view local wildlife. A short stroll during any time of year will give you the opportunity to see countless wildlife species, from birds and rabbits to deer, squirrels, and more.
Several local lakes, including Kent Lake and South Lake, offer opportunities for swimming, boating, and other water sports. Active visitors and residents can enjoy cycling along the Huron Valley Rail Trail, a popular path that was converted from a rail line to a scenic pedestrian and bike route.
South Lyon is also home to a number of community events, including the annual South Lyon Street Art Fair. This event celebrates the city’s innovative and creative minds and provides a convenient excuse to explore delectable nearby dining fare. During the fall, you can also enjoy the South Lyon Pumpkinfest, an annual celebration with games, activities, contests, food, and a parade.
Needless to say, the town is a fantastic place for families, with many recreation and entertainment options all year long. But South Lyon wouldn't be the thriving community it is without its local small businesses and service providers.
Overall, South Lyon is a charming and welcoming community with a strong sense of history and a bright future. It is a great place to live, work, and raise a family, and it has something to offer for people of all ages and interests.
